Charoen Krung is Bangkok's first paved road, built in the 1860s, and the riverside neighbourhood around it is now the city's best-known creative district. It suits artists, designers and culture-minded remote workers who want old shophouses, galleries and the Chao Phraya River close by, and who can accept walking a little further to a station.

Getting around Charoen Krung
Rail access here takes some walking. The nearest stations are Charoen Nakhon and Khlong San on the Gold Line, about 850 metres and 1.05 km away across the river, while MRT Hua Lamphong on the Blue Line and BTS Saphan Taksin on the Silom Line are each about 1.05 km. Chao Phraya Express Boats and cross-river ferries are the most pleasant way to move along the river, and Grab fills the gaps.
