Ratchaprasong is the crossroads at the centre of Bangkok's shopping district, where CentralWorld, Gaysorn, Amarin Plaza and the Erawan Shrine meet under one elevated Skywalk. There is not much quiet here. Weekdays bring office workers, shoppers and tour groups through the malls from mid-morning, and the Erawan Shrine draws worshippers from early until late. Big C Rajdamri, opposite CentralWorld, is the practical choice for groceries and household basics at ordinary prices, and street food is easiest to find on the sois towards Pratunam. Weekends and holidays are busier still, with events on the plaza outside CentralWorld and the New Year countdown drawing huge crowds. The wholesale clothing markets of Pratunam are a short walk north, and the quieter lanes of Langsuan offer relief to the south-east.

Getting around Ratchaprasong
BTS Chit Lom on the Sukhumvit Line is about 350 m away and Ratchadamri on the Silom Line about 500 m, with Siam, where the two lines meet, around 600 m west along the Skywalk. Phloen Chit is about 1 km east. The Skywalk links all of these to the malls, so you can cross the area without dealing with the intersection itself, which is among the most congested in Bangkok. Canal boats on Khlong Saen Saep stop at Pratunam, a short walk north.
