Lumphini Park before 8am — joggers, tai-chi classes, open-air aerobics, monitor lizards. The closest thing Bangkok has to Central Park.
Silom runs along Lumphini's southern edge; the park is your free amenity.

Silom Soi 2 (clubs — DJ Station, GBangkok) and Silom Soi 4 (bars — Telephone Pub, Balcony) — the two parallel sois that anchor Bangkok's gay nightlife.

BNH Hospital on Convent Road — the long-established CBD international hospital, walking distance from BTS Saladaeng.
Less famous than Bumrungrad but equally English-speaking, with shorter waits.
Living in Silom
Weekday mornings start early, with office workers crowding the BTS stairs and street stalls along the side sois doing a fast breakfast trade. Bangkok Bank's head office and other towers line the road, State Tower stands at the river end, and Silom Complex near Sala Daeng covers shopping and groceries. As offices empty, the street changes character: Patpong and Silom Soi 2 and Soi 4 fill up, and food carts take over the pavements. Weekends are slower by day and busy at night. The colourful Sri Maha Mariamman Temple is another local landmark. For calmer streets, residents walk south to Sathon.
Renting in Silom
Housing is a mix of mid-range condos, serviced apartments and older walk-up blocks on the sois, with a few luxury towers near the river end. Studios cost 18,000–30,000 THB a month, one-bedrooms 25,000–45,000 THB a month and two-bedrooms 45,000–90,000 THB a month, slightly below comparable units in Sathon. Getting around Silom
BTS Sala Daeng on the Silom Line is about 300 m from the centre and BTS Chong Nonsi around 450 m, both on the same line towards Siam and the river. MRT Si Lom on the Blue Line is roughly 550 m away and linked to Sala Daeng, with Sam Yan about 750 m. Between them you can reach Sukhumvit, Chinatown and the river without a taxi. Is Silom noisy at night?
Parts of it are. The stretch around Patpong and Soi 2 and Soi 4 is busy until late, and the main road carries traffic around the clock. Condos on quieter sois or on high floors facing away from the main road are much calmer, so check the soi and orientation before committing.
What is Patpong?
Patpong is a pair of short lanes between Silom Road and Surawong Road, known for its bars and a night market aimed at tourists. It is one of Bangkok's best-known nightlife strips. Few long-term residents live directly on it, but it shapes the evening atmosphere of the surrounding blocks.
